A Farm Wedding - natural unposed wedding photography at a fabulous farm wedding

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A FARM OR BARN WEDDING, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING FOR INSPIRATION!

When Julia and Jack first got in touch about their wedding photography, I was so thrilled – they were planning a beautiful traditional wedding with a church ceremony and a lovely meal with friends and family for the reception.

Julia and Jack are the sweetest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

THE EXCITEMENT BEFORE THE WEDDING

We met Jack our groom, at the Church in Thornbury, where the couple’s friends and family were chatting and greeting each other before the ceremony began. It was so much fun, because they were all so happy to see each other. Jack wore a morning suit and looked really very dashing. Jack and his wedding team were greeting family and friends as they arrived and directing people to their places.  It was not long before Julia arrived, dressed in the most beautiful full-length wedding gown, with a very pretty full-length veil, looking truly amazing, with her dad, proudly sitting beside her in the car.

THE CEREMONY

The wedding took place in Alveston, and was a beautiful church ceremony. They had some lovely hymns and readings, which everyone enjoyed. The light in the church was really beautiful and sun beams seemed to shine down on Julia wherever she stood.  It was magical.

After the ceremony they had a sweeping first kiss, signed the register, and then the formal part of the day was over and the celebrations began; Jack and Julia both work on farms nearby and have a really fun group of friends. The friends quietly disappeared from the church, only to reappear moments later, dressed in white coats and brandishing pitchforks high in the air - to create a farmers' pitchfork ‘guard of honour’ for the bride and groom to walk through, celebrating their first journey together as a married couple.

THE RECEPTION

The wedding reception took place in a lovely large marquee, in the middle of a huge open green field, which was on the family farm. It was an extra special farm wedding theme because Julia and Jack had travelled from Church to Reception way up high on a CLAAS Jaguar Forage Harvester – which, for those that may not know, is a huge high up farm harvesting machine, only maybe slightly smaller than a combine harvester!

It was a dry but cloudy day, with awesome clouds flying across the big wide, open Gloucestershire skies - a fabulous fresh kind of day, which was awesome. While the guests enjoyed drinks at the bar, we grabbed a few minutes to capture a few more wedding portrait photographs. My favourite photo from the afternoon is the one where Julia and Jack wanted a photo with their favourite cow, Gloria. So Julia in her lovely white wedding dress and silky delicate wedding shoes, and Jack in his smart morning suit and shiny, black wedding shoes, picked their way through mud and puddles to show us Gloria, their favourite of the many cows in the cow shed.  It was good fun, and Gloria was very companionable and happy to be photographed - Check it out below!

We took the opportunity for a few more photographs, and then made our way back to the reception. For the wedding breakfast, there was a delicious hog roast, which was enjoyed heartily and tremendously by all the guests. Afterwards, Jack and his best man had all the guests laughing and cheering at their speeches and then, due to a break in the clouds, everyone tumbled outside for one big fun group photo of everyone, in front of (and on top of) the Claas Jaguar Forage Harvester.

THE EVENING PARTY

Soon it was time for Julia and Jack to cut their wedding cake and the evening guests to arrive.  Then Julia and Jack kicked off the evening party with a romantic first dance, and the DJ played great tracks to ensure the dance floor was busy all night.  Everyone had a fabulous time and we captured heaps of great photos.

THE most memorable thing about this Farm wedding day

One of the most memorable things about Julia and Jack's wedding, (apart from the CLAAS Jaguar Forage Harvester machine they had for Wedding transport!), was that the couple wanted some portraits near the little church at Rangeworthy, which was a special place for Jack, and had awesome views.  To get there, we followed Julia and Jack in their Claas Forager and Jack soon parked the huge farm machine up outside a local pub (who didn’t seem to mind!).  Taking this short time away from all the guests (who were all happy already at the marquee mingling and enjoying canapes) to have some wedding portrait photography meant the wedding couple could spend some quiet time together, whilst having their portraits captured, time to just be together, take a breather, and a chance to say "hey we did it! We’re married!!!" in what could otherwise be a very hectic and exciting day!  It was so lovely and peaceful, and such fabulous views, it was a memorable and special place.

Oh and if you are planning a wedding with a barn or farm wedding theme, then straw bales make for great seats placed around the perimeter of the dance floor!

KIND WORDS

“We couldn’t have asked for a more lovely lady to be there to capture our special day!”
