It was early summer and had been raining on and off quite heavily, but in between, the day was bright and fresh and when I arrived at the Great Tythe Barn in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, to capture wedding photographs for the day, and I just knew this was going to be a fabulous wedding day.
Both cottages (right next door to each other in the lovely grounds of the Great Tythe Barn), where everyone was getting ready, were filled to the brim with excitement and laughter, the sound of champagne glasses chinking, gift-giving hugs and squeals of excitement, bouquets and bridesmaids, wedding dresses, sisters, friends, family, cousins, makeup artists and hairdressers, and I loved to capture all the goings on of the morning in fabulous bridal preparation photographs.
And that was just the start!
The Great Tythe Barn is a lovely venue with plenty of light and space and had been beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. Everyone was comfortably spaced and although we needed to wear masks at the time, for the ceremony, the ceremony was lovely, meaningful, and after 4 postponements of this planned wedding, a very joyous occasion!
Soon we were all piling out into the sunshine for congratulations, confetti, hugs and a few group photos before the newly wedded couple and I escaped for a little while to capture some more very special, just married, portrait photographs.
We were soon on our way back into the Tythe Barn where the ceremony room had been rearranged to make a wonderful wedding breakfast space. Tables were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers in repurposed drinks bottles creating a colourful atmosphere and each table on the seating plan was named after a town or place that was special to either Caroline or Hannah. Guests had to remain seated at tables whilst indoors for canapes due to the current restrictions, but there was no restriction on the conversations, love, laughter and all the catching up to be done amongst friends and family, and soon Caroline and Hannah were welcomed in to lots of cheers and claps and whoops of delight by their guests, to their Wedding Breakfast feast.
The catering and food was really delicious and soon we were on to the speeches. These were a great mix of funny and happy memories and well wishes and resulted in so many emotions throughout the room of love and pride and support for two such fabulous and amazing women.
Among many other things, Caroline really loves a treasure hunt! So you will see in the photos, Hannah was not going to escape her wedding day without going on a treasure hunt organised by Caroline, especially for her! It was really fun, Caroline had given me the heads up of an extra photo opportunity, so I knew to follow along too - Hannah was taken outside and lead off in the direction of her first clue - each clue was handed over by a special guest with a clue leading on to the next clue, until Hannah ended up back inside the Great Tythe Barn (now rearranged for the evening party) to walk down the room, through a fabulous confetti of balloons and bubbles, balloons also cascaded down from above, until she found Caroline, waiting for her at the top of the room to cut the cake, and have their first dance and for the evening reception to begin.
It was a fabulous party, lots of dancing, and shots, and delicious pizza, just at the right time - and because both Caroline and Hannah’s guests love to party, there was a great fun vibe on the dance floor, all evening long.
As the rain had stopped again, we popped outside for a few more outdoor photos to capture the soft evening light and then, with loads of photos from an amazing day, it was time for me to leave. I hugged everyone goodbye, got back to my very local hotel, where I immediately uploaded and safely saved all of the photos from the day, before tumbling in to my lovely comfy bed and falling into a very deep sleep!
The whole wedding day was amazing! And here is a slideshow of a few of the highlights of this wonderful wedding day.
Enjoy!
